Steven Robert Roden

December 2, 1944 — June 4, 2020

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Steven Robert Roden on June 4, 2020 at Providence Medical Center in Portland Oregon, due to liver complications.

Steve was born December 2, 1944 to parents Ken and June Roden in Portland, Oregon. The second of three siblings, he is survived by brother Mike Roden and sister Janice Mosbrucker.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Dorothy Roden, his children Shelly Wittcke (Darren), Tiffany Roden, Rebecca Guyette (Jon), and grandchildren Holly Roden, Luke Wittcke, Gabe Miller and Mercedes Guyette.

Steve lived his life under the philosophy of do unto others as you would have done unto you.

He cared deeply for his friends and family, and wouldn’t think twice if you needed help.

Steve’s hobbies changed as the years passed but mostly he liked swimming, bike riding, camping, long walks on the beach, rockhounding and traveling the United States with Dorothy in their motor home. He was very involved in Cowboy Action Shooting with Dorothy and their many friends. He enjoyed competing with them very much and the friendships they made meant the world to him.

Steve volunteered with the Lion’s Club and taught blind people to swim among other things. He also volunteered with the Oregon Eye Bank delivering eyes and tissue to numerous hospitals in the Portland area. He retired from the Oregon Racing Commission and enjoyed his retirement very much.

Steve was loved by so many and will be truly missed. May he rest in Eternal peace.

Steve’s request was to be cremated and due to Covid restrictions a Celebration of Life will be held in October.

Details will be provided at a later date.
