Robert Curry was born in Anniston, Alabama on August 23, 1929 to Warren Curry and Glady Kirby. He was the youngest of three children.

In 1950 at the age of 20, he married Dorothy Mitchell in Reno, Nevada.

Robert proudly served in the United States Army where he received a Bronze Service Star (awarded for meritorious service or acts of valor while serving in combat operations. The fourth-highest combat award of the US Armed Forces), National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. After 8 years of service he was Honorably Discharged in October 1960. After leaving the military, Robert took great pride in working for Rich Manufacturing, Schell’s Refrigeration, and retiring from Tyler Refrigeration.

Robert remarried September 1998 to Shirley Mae Robinson and divorced March 2003.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to go fishing and would frequent the local race tracks and casinos. Robert spent most of his years doing odd jobs and home improvement projects.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Glady Curry, brother Warren Curry, sister Theoplis Brown, and wife Dorothy Curry.

Robert passed away on Thursday July 16, 2020. He is survived by his children, Robert E. Curry (Emma), Madelyn I. Curry, Kathleen P. Curry, Michael M. Curry, Calvin C. Curry, Linda R. Curry-Pernell (Willie Pernell deceased), Anthony W. Curry, Victor L. Curry, Nicole Johnson; as well as 27 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was well loved by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
