Nick Chris George was born on October 15th, 1936, in Nestani, Greece to parents Chris and Constantina (Papadimitriou) Georgaras. He passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28th, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home in NE Portland.
Nick came to Portland in the early 1960's. He was a restauranteur and started, owned, and managed the Bonfire restaurant in Portland with his brother and cousin.
He is best remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and of course his famous "Papou's Spaghetti." He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, celebrating traditional holidays (in a big way), listening to Greek music, cooking for others, storytelling, and watching sports.
Nick was a strong, proud, good husband, father, grandfather, and wonderful friend to all. He was a man who had a magical way of making people feel welcome, loved, special, and always had a warm smile on his face.
Nick is survived by his wife, Maria Elena (Pontikos) George; sons Chris and Michael; sister Fotoula; brother Bill; and his 5 grandchildren; Nick, Ashton, Alex, Elena, Alexa, and one great-grandchild on the way.
We will love you forever, and you will never be forgotten. God Bless you.
