Lorvell Franklin

August 17, 1947 — August 25, 2019

Lorvell Franklin, (Joe) was born on August 17,1947 in Warren Arkansas. He was the son of the late Reverend Levert and Missionary Eloise Franklin. He departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2019, peacefully sleeping.

Lorvell (Joe) relocated from Arkansas, to Portland Oregon at the age of 10 with his parents and siblings in 1957 where he attended Boise Elementary, Thomas Jefferson High School, and OSU (Oregon State University).

Lorvell (Joe) was a very hard working individual. He had many different work experiences. The one job that was most near and dear to his heart was his family-owned business, Franklin Market/Franklin Ready Ribs. Lorvell loved slinging those bar-b-que ribs, and he was truly a master chef of soul food. He was the first to present to the family the pickled boiled eggs, pickled pig feet, and the fried bar-b-que chicken. He would always come to the family with outstanding ideas about food that we had not experienced before and probably never would have if it wasn't for him.

Lorvell (Joe) later decided it was time to experience the world so he joined a traveling carnival were he continued to present to people on the road foods they had never experienced before. That was a job he truly loved. He enjoyed it because he was able to travel to different places and meet different people from all walks of life. He definitely was a people person.

Once Lorvell was ready to settle down back in Portland, he joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member. Lorvell leaves to cherish his memory, His daughter Lanita Joell Franklin His sisters, Mary Franklin, Supervisor Laverne Martin and Louise Fields His Nieces, Lameshia (Franklin) Mathews, Lajessica Martin, Paris Hayes, and Amber Franklin, His Nephews, Assistant Pastor Lamont Williams, Arthur Hayes, London Franklin and Marco Williams. And a host of Great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Levert and Missionary Eloise Franklin, and his brother Lewis E. Franklin. The family is truly thankful and blessed to have been able to enjoy a family celebration with him on Saturday August 24, 2019. He will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace Lorvell Franklin (Joe)
