Edna Mae Rooks of Portland, Oregon passed away May 13, 2017 at the age of 81. She was born on October 24, 1935 in Timnath, Colorado to Elizabeth and Henry Weinmeister.

In her early years she enjoyed spending time with friends and dancing. She married young and started her family at the age of 18. She had three children, Terri, Rick and Debbie.

She worked many years for the Housing Authority of Portland before retiring in 1993 allowing her to spend more time with her grandkids.

She met the love of her life Al, in August of 1980, while out dancing with her girlfriends at a night club. They were married August 25, 1984. They enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids, camping, and enjoyed making friends on their trips to the casinos. She was an avid Blazer fan and wouldn’t miss a game. She’d often make phone calls to remind family when a game was on to be sure they’d be cheering on her team as well!

She was preceded in death her parents and 5 brothers; Ed, Ruban, Art, Rhinney and Floyd and 3 sisters; Clara, Viola, Betty.

She is survived by husband, Al Rooks; Sister, Bev Biggs; children Terri Krenz, Rick Hammond, and Debbie McNair; step-children, Angela Rooks and Steven Rooks; grandchildren, Tawnya Payne, Lahela Rademacher, Rick Hammond, Lindsay Krenz, David McNair, Katrina McNair, Katie and Jake; and great grandchildren, Kaleb Krenz-Payne and Kassidy Payne.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11 am at Mt Hood Christian Center. 2500 SE Palmblad Rd, Gresham, OR 97080.  Please do not feel the need to dress formally or in black, be comfortable to enjoy celebrating Edna’s life. In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or church on Grandma’s behalf.
