Azzie Nolan Jones

April 7, 1937 — May 4, 2023

Azzie Nolan Jones was born to Will and Alice Nolan, April 7, 1937, in Lake Village, Arkansas. She was the fifth child of ten siblings.

Azzie accepted Christ at a very early age at Andrews Missionary Baptist Church in Tillar, Arkansas. She would graduate from Wolf Project High in 1956. In 1958 Azzie married Cleveland Jones. In 1959 they moved to Portland, Oregon to live with family member Viola Watson.

In 1973 God blessed them with a beautiful baby boy Cleveland Jones.

Azzie was employed at OHSU Hospital for 35 years. She retired in 2001. Her hobbies were few. She loved playing cards with her friends. But most of all she loved working hard.

Azzie was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church but would leave the church for a few years. In 1984 after deep prayer Azzie and her family would join Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Wayne C Reynolds.

In 1987 the Lord called her beloved husband Cleveland home to rest. The Lord blessed Azzie with love once again with Cedrick Crowell. The two would love one another until the Lord would call her home to rest.  Azzie continued to do the work of the Lord at Hughes with great faith. She always believed faith without work was dead.

Azzie Jones was a member of Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded

in death by her husband of 29 years Cleveland Jones. Mother Alice Nolan, Father Will Nolan. Sisters Ada Fitzhugh, Alberta Robinson, Mae Bryant, Delorash Nolan, Alice Fay Nolan, Hattie Hare, Carolyn Lazenby, Brother Eddie Nolan Sr, and granddaughter Stephanie Jones.

Azzie is survived by her son, Cleveland Jones. Grandchildren, Treona Jones, William Jacob-Jones, Isiah Jones, Kwinasia Jones, Rashawn Fair, Zion Jones, Dejanay Hunter,  Nadine Jones, and Zaleia Jones. Great grandchildren, Kameron Jones, London Streeter, and Dreux Anthony Smith. Brother James Nolan, Sister Carrie Hardeman, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many other loved ones. She was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and a loyal servant of Christ. Her memory will always be our treasure.
