Bill Mathias Obituary

William (Bill, Billy) Mathias passed away at the St. Bernhard Bendel Care Home in Beaverton, Oregon, Monday, September 22, 2025. He was 95 years old.

Bill was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas but relocated to the Pacific Northwest after serving in the US Air Force in the 1950’s.

Bill was a machinist and retired from Hyster Company after more than 30 years. He was an active parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Portland for over 60 years. After retirement he donated his time at St. Rose gardening and performing other handyman efforts until health problems interfered.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, and three of his daughters Connie, Lori (Bill), and Toni (Scott), as well as 7 grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his infant son Stephen and daughter Jennifer.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1 pm. A rosary will precede the service at 12:30 pm. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bill’s name for a future new care facility to the St. Bernhard Bendel Home LLC, 12579 SW Fairfield Court, Beaverton, OR 97005
