Tientje Krans

March 13, 1928 — December 3, 2023

Tientje “Tine” Cato Krans was born on 13 March 1928 in Njandjuk, Indonesia.  A formidable woman: she was orphaned at 13, survived WWII air bombings, witnessed death during the Indonesian revolution, forced to immigrate to The Netherlands with her husband and five children, survived three brothers and one sister, and had the courage to leave a 25-year marriage and braved it with alone with her sixth child.

Tine will be remembered for her radiance, joy of life, and gravitation to fun; not to mention faith in her 14 Guardian Angels… ;-)

Her joy for entertaining, crafting and love of cooking created warm and inviting homes in Heerlen (1969-1974), Garden Grove (1975-1990), San Francisco (1994-2005), and Portland (2006-2023.)

She owned two dress shops, organized runway events showcasing her fashion creations, and operated two adult care homes.  Her greatest loves were her kids, throwing dinner parties, and dancing – not necessarily in that order!  She will be missed by so many who have been warmed by her ready smile, generous heart and unconditional love.
