Scott Douglas Kringen

Scott Douglas Kringen, 57, passed away at home in Portland, Oregon on the morning of April 25, 2026. He lost his battle to a difficult-to-diagnose lymphatic disorder. Scott was a devoted and loving father and a wonderful husband. We miss him dearly.

Scott was born in Rochester, Minnesota on July 14, 1968 to Charlotte [Anderson] and Ron Kringen. His happy childhood was spent in Rose Hill, Kansas with older brother, Kent. Scott's love of adventure was sparked on annual family trips in his uncle's RV to several national parks. Seeing the beauty of the west on these trips planted a seed, and later in life he became an avid outdoorsman and adventurer. He loved hiking, skiing, running, cycling and especially traveling. Scott attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence for his undergraduate studies. Not long after that, his love of adventure (along with his college friends Ross Finney and Brad Engle) brought him to Oregon in 1993, where he later completed a Masters of International Management at Portland State University.

Scott was introduced to Adrienne Sturbois in 2000 by mutual friends. They fell in love while hiking, backpacking and exploring the Pacific Northwest they both loved. They were married in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico on June 14, 2003 and set about creating a life together. Scott was an incredible spouse and a true partner. He was thoughtful, caring, dedicated, full of joy and curiosity. He could always make Adrienne laugh.

Scott had a long and fulfilling career in renewable energy. He had great passion for his work and developed strong ties in the industry over the course of his 26-year career. Scott was proud of his work with Vestas, Renewable Energy Systems (RES), Avangrid and finally Triple Oak Power. He loved working with the broad range of folks involved in bringing a project from conception to completion: farmers, ranchers, politicians, community organizers, tribal members and business people. With his down-to-earth manner, genuineness and curiosity about people, he had a knack for turning anyone he met into a friend. He was a quiet leader and generous mentor.

Scott's greatest pride and dedication was reserved for his family, especially his boys. His fierce love for Jasper and Eli, who emulate their dad in so many ways, only increased as he watched them grow into capable, strong young men. He was always available to them -- from playing catch to giving advice. He taught them so much, but mostly they learned by his example that true leadership comes from quietly and consistently doing the right thing, and true strength comes from lifting up those around you. He was a steadfast friend who embodied kindness and goodness everywhere he went.

Scott is survived by his wife Adrienne, his sons Jasper and Eli, his father Ronald Kringen and his wife Mary Anne of Wichita, Kansas as well as his brother Kent Kringen of Spring Hill, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his mother Charlotte Anderson Kringen.
