Modesta L. Herrada

Modesta Luisa Gonzalez Herrada was born on March 13, 1926 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba unto Gabino Gonzalez and Fermina Valdes. She had three siblings, Genoveva, Juan, and Justo Luis. She married Felix Montero Herrada in Havana, Cuba on December 23, 1949. They had one son, Felix Antonio Herrada. She relocated to the United States in 1965, joining her son in Portland, OR after a three year separation. Her husband followed four months later. Modesta found work within three months of her arrival, and started English classes and trade school. She worked at First Interstate Bank, and retired after twenty-five years. She is survived by three grandchildren, Felix Herrada III, Mercedes Herrada, and Mariah Herrada Hunter, as well as five great-grandchildren, William, Natalie, Taliya, Tyra, and Kahlil, as well as many more extended family members and friends. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
