Martin “Marty” Glen WegnerMay 1, 1953 – March 24, 2026
Martin “Marty” Glen Wegner, age 72, passed away in the early morning of March 24, 2026, surrounded by his wife and three children. His passing leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Marty was born on May 1, 1953, and was raised in Portland, Oregon, a place he proudly called home throughout his life. He spent a few years in Ashland, Oregon, where he attended Southern Oregon College and played baseball. He went on to dedicate his career to serving his community as a Water Superintendent for the City of Gresham, where his hard work and commitment made a lasting impact on the community he served.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years, Lois, and a proud father to Chad, Alicia, and Wes. Nothing brought Marty more joy than his role as “Grandpa” to his seven grandchildren. He rarely missed a game, performance, or activity, and could always be found cheering them—and often the entire team—on from the sidelines with pride and enthusiasm.
Marty had a deep love for the outdoors and spent many of his happiest moments hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature. He was known for his warm presence, a smile that could light up any room, and a personality that naturally drew people together. Whether among family, friends, or new acquaintances, Marty was often the heart of the gathering—steady, strong, and full of life.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A service to celebrate Marty’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on July 8, 2026, at New Hope Church (10602 SE Henderson St., Portland, Oregon).
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” — John 14:1–3
Forever in our hearts.
