Marilyn E. Walker

Marilyn E. Walker was born on February 4, 1937, to Olli Mae Walker and Willie Walker in Carbondale, Texas. She spent her childhood in the quaint, close-knit town of Mineral Springs, Arkansas. Later, Marilyn made her home in Portland, Oregon, where she became a member of Emmanuel Free Methodist Church. Several years later, she joined Life Change Christian Church, led by Pastor Mark Strong, where she continued to faithfully serve and grow in her walk with Christ.

Marilyn was a devoted mother who raised her four children as a single mother with unwavering strength, resilience, and unconditional love. Her oldest daughter, Deborah, naturally stepped into the role of a second mother, helping to care for her younger siblings. Sharon was her quiet and dainty one, Rose was the fierce leader who lovingly kept her on her toes, and Derrick was forever her baby. She loved each of them deeply and uniquely, never missing an opportunity to remind them how proud she was to be their mother.That same love extended far beyond her own children. Marilyn's example taught her family what it means to love fiercely, forgive freely, pray faithfully, and always show up for one another. The legacy of love she built continues to live on through every generation of her family.

Marilyn was deeply devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in gathering loved ones together in her cozy home on 13th Street. Whether sharing a meal, laughter, or simply enjoying one another's company, she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed shopping, working crossword puzzles, and, above all, growing in her relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a steadfast woman of faith who faithfully instilled the importance of prayer and God's Word in each generation of her family.

Marilyn will be remembered for her warm sense of humor, generous spirit, delicious home cooking, unwavering faith, and the unconditional love she shared so freely with everyone around her.

Marilyn is lovingly survived by her children, Sharon Richey and Spouse (Melvin Richey), Rose Wakefield, and Derrick Brown; her six grandchildren, Danniellia, Cubby, Rashonda, Jada, Peyton, and Jordan; her great-grandchildren, Chanel, Aliviona, Tabria, Keoni, Devontae, Ayanna, Aaliyah, JJ, Brayden, Kelelea, and Lakiah; her seven great-great-grandchildren, Ellie, Nessa, Oakley, Greyson, Delilah, Enderlyn, and Averie; as well as a cherished host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Olli Mae Walker; her daughter, Deborah White; and her seven siblings: Willie Lee Walker, Maezelle Walker, Irene Vine, Evelyn Lane, Frank "B.W." Walker, Carolyn Ross, and one sibling whose name will be lovingly remembered by the family.

Heaven's arms opened wide to welcome Marilyn home on June 27th, 2026. While her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited with those who went before her and is forever at peace in the presence of her Savior.
