Marie V. Crane

September 22, 1920 — February 8, 2018

Marie Virginia Crane was born on September 22, 1920 in Portland, Oregon to Joseph Levi Crane and Madge Lillian Oliver. As a child Marie accepted Christ at an early age; where her faith sustained her throughout her 97 years of life.

She attended and graduated from Portland Union Academy Adventist School. Following High School, Marie attended Good Samaritan nursing school. Over her lifetime, Marie had dedicated more than 60 years to the field of healthcare. She started out as a Nurse's Aide, moving up to an LPN. She eventually retired from a 21-year Providence Healthcare career working in the open heart surgical unit. This specialty of healthcare thoroughly fascinated Marie. She would reminisce about the excitement of participating in open heart bypass procedures and transplants. Marie once said, "It is an amazing feeling once the heart is shocked and comes back to life."

Marie was active in hiking up Multnomah Falls and the Coast Ranges, swimming in the rivers, and playing both bowling and golf. Marie enjoyed her competitive bowling and appeared in several national tournaments for the Oregon George Amato Team. Marie participated in 5 bowling league championships. Although she never won any national league trophies, her bowling talents allowed her to travel to many cities such as New York, St. Louis and many more.

As a youth Marie was a drum majorette in the all colored marching band. Her band appeared in the Portland Rose Festival, Santa Claus parade and many others in Seattle.

Marie is survived by her children: Darlene Walton of California, Beverly Golden (Gene) of Oregon, Gary Patterson (Cheryl) of Oregon, and Barron Williams of Oregon. 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
