Margaret Oberg, née Hindmarsh, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, in Portland, Oregon. She was born on October 22, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Albert E. and Merrill Hindmarsh. 

She Grew up in Virginia and graduated from George Mason High School. She had many interests. During her 86 years, she touched the lives of many with grace and with sharing of the gospel. She loved Collie dogs, and believed everyone should have one; that they helped keep your spirit bright. She was very encouraging and loved to listen and help others. Margaret loved  watching the birds, butterflies, and growing the beautiful flowers that attracted them.

A graveside service honoring Margaret Oberg’s life will take place at Willamette National Cemetery on August 20, 2026. Attendees are asked to meet at the Willamette National Cemetery offices at 2:00 p.m., with a procession to the committal shelter beginning at 2:15 p.m. The service will continue until 2:45 p.m. at 11800 Southeast Mount Scott Boulevard, Portland, OR.

Margaret Oberg will be remembered for her dignified nature, her dedication, and the indelible impression she left on her community. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held, with service dates posted here as plans are coordinated.
