Lydia Emma Doolittle was born in Portland, Oregon on April 16, 1922 the daughter of John and Elizabeth Arndt.  Her parents were German immigrants from Russia. Lydia had five brothers and one sister. As a child Lydia spoke German in the home before she learned English in school. Lydia attended Portland Public Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School.
During WWII Lydia worked on the Liberty Ships installing insulation and electrical cables.
Lydia met Paul Doolittle and married him six months later, on Valentine's Day 1948.
Lydia and Paul had two sons Dennis and Ronald that they raised in North East Portland. Lydia prided herself on being a mother and stayed at home with her boys.  She also had a passion for photography, calligraphy and gardening.  By looking at her beautiful yard you could see her love of roses.
Lydia also bowled and won many trophies.
In Lydia's life she has always had strong faith and love of our Lord. On many occasions you could hear Lydia singing her favorite hymns.
Lydia passed peacefully in her sleep at age 98. She leaves to cherish her memory her eldest son Dennis Doolittle, grandsons Nicholas, Randall and his wife Kelli and her two great granddaughters Bailey and Riley.
