Lisa Ann Dare

Lisa Ann Dare (née Schurr), a devoted wife, mother, and cherished friend, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Beaverton, Oregon, after a courageous battle with complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Born on June 17, 1959, in Alameda, California, Lisa lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, and deep compassion.

Lisa graduated from Miramonti High School in 1977 and went on to earn an associate's degree in Nutrition. Her career was distinguished by her work at International Business Machines, where she held important roles including project and finance manager as well as business relationship manager within the Lynx Technology Division. In addition to her corporate achievements, Lisa nurtured her artistic talents as a wedding photographer, capturing meaningful moments with care and precision.

Her generous spirit extended beyond her professional endeavors. Inspired by a profound quote from John F. Kennedy in Life magazine, Lisa made the heartfelt decision in 1988 to adopt a daughter, Danielle, who blossomed into an extraordinary woman. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends, often organizing events and gatherings that strengthened bonds and created lasting memories. Her love for celebration was evident in the way she decorated her home during holidays, delighting in the whimsical charm of paper snowflakes at Christmas and handmade scarecrows for Halloween.

Lisa's creative passions were wide-ranging: she embraced fiber arts and knitting, and crafted banners for her church, demonstrating a blend of artistry and devotion. As an avid photographer, she dedicated long hours to capturing the perfect image of nature and people, a testament to her patience and eye for detail. Her zest for life was also marked by a love of travel, with journeys to Japan, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and cruises through Alaska and the Caribbean enriching her appreciation of the world’s diversity and beauty.

A woman of profound faith, Lisa loved the Lord Jesus Christ and actively served her community. She volunteered and led efforts with Mana Ministries, transforming surplus grocery store food into nourishing meals for the homeless beneath the bridges of downtown Portland, embodying her spirit of service and compassion.

Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Michael Dare; her beloved daughter, Danielle Jones; and her niece and nephew, Rayanna Schurr and Jonathan House. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Schurr and Dorothy Coykendoll Schurr; her siblings Kurt Schurr, Paul Schurr, and Laurie Schurr House.

Lisa Ann Dare’s legacy is one of kindness, faith, and creativity—a life well-lived with a giving heart that touched the lives of many. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her, as a beacon of gentle strength and enduring love.
