Katherine “Katy” Delistraty Vokos was born in Portland, Oregon at the old St. Vincent’s hospital on June 26, 1931, and raised by her two parents, who were both Greek immigrants. She grew up in SW Portland and attended Shattuck Elementary School (the building is now a part of Portland State University). Shr went to Commerce High School to specialize in business/secretarial skills and graduated in 1949. She went to work for General Tool Company and was employed there for 10 years.

Katy was introduced to Christ Vokos by a mutual friend, and they were married on July 7th, 1951 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the church that was the center of Katy’s life. Her youth and social life revolved around the Greek community and church. Katy and Christ went on to raise three children- George Vokos, Tina Vokos, and Eleni Vokos Marschman.

Katy was involved with the PTA at John Jacob Astor Elementary, where the kids attended school. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Penelope, Philoptochos, The Portland Women’s Association, and the President’s Club. She was very active at Holy Trinity, serving as Sunday School Director, Greek Festival Chairwoman, as church secretary for 10 years, she served on Parish Council, the Philoptochus Board (two years as president), and numerous other committees and ministries.

Katy loved to laugh, she had a great sense of humor and loved to share anecdotes, jokes, and stories. She was kind, caring, and loving. Katy and Christ were married for 69 years, and enjoyed a lifetime of entertaining, family events, and many travels. Christ preceded Katy in death, in 2020.
