Kathleen (Kay) Hudlett passed away on October 27th after suffering several debilitating strokes and falls over the last few years. She was a resilient, strong lady with a fun sense of humor and a bit of a fiery temper. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, antiques, vintage shoes and her many beloved cats she owned over her lifetime.

Was born Kathleen Mary Edwards and was the oldest of four children born to Dallas and Eileen Edwards. Her younger brothers included Michael, Patrick and Thomas and they were raised in a devout Catholic household. Kathleen celebrated her First Communion in May of 1950.

Kathleen graduated High School in 1961 from Holy Child Academy for girls in Portland, Oregon. She enjoyed singing and dancing in the high school musicals. Her fondest memories of high school also include playing pranks on the nuns that taught at the school.

She married Jerry E. Gastineau 1965

and gave birth to their daughter, Anne Kathleen Gastineau in 1966.

She then finished her nursing degree while caring for her new baby girl. She graduated Nursing School in 1967, from Sacred Heart General Hospital in Eugene, Oregon.

Kathleen worked as a nurse at the hospital in Salem, Oregon and supported the family while her first husband, Jerry, was in law school at Willamette University. She then spent many years as an ICU nurse at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital in Medford, Oregon, while her husband established his own law firm in Medford.

In 1972, she gave birth to son, Jerry Edward Gastineau Jr.

She took a break from nursing while her kids were young, and became an Avon Sales Representative to earn some extra income. She was successful! She was hired by Avon Corporate as the Avon District Manager for the Southern Oregon/Northern California region 1980-1984.

Kathleen and her first husband, Jerry, divorced in 1987. Soon after she met the love of her life, Dino, in Karate class. Kathleen married Dino Hudlett in Medford, Oregon in December of 1990. She then changed her name to Kay Hudlett.

Dino and Kay moved to Portland area and purchased a float home along the Willamette River, near Scappoose, Oregon. Kay managed her own EBay antiques business, ‘Kaylectibles’, for several years.

Kay also returned to nursing as a home healthcare nurse for Providence in Portland, Oregon where she visited patients in their homes to provide care. Later, she became the head nurse at Rose Valley Assisted Living retirement community in Scappoose, Oregon.

Dino and Kay celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary in December 2022.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Michael and Patrick. She is survived by her husband, Dino, her daughter Anne, her son Jerry, her son-in-law, David and her grandchildren, Sophia and Ty and her brother, Thomas.
