Janis Deloverette Mahone

Our Loving Mother, Janis Deloverette Mahone born Janis Deloverette Bowles in Tuscaloosa Alabama on January 1, 1950, passed away on April 21, 2023, at the age of 73.

Janis was born to parents Earl Bowles Sr. and Rosie Lee Bowles and moved from Alabama to Portland, Oregon a young child with her parents and siblings. Janis remained in Portland, Oregon graduating from college and starting her journey as an Educator. Janis moved from Portland and after residing outside the area relocated to Sacramento, CA making this her family home. Janis raised her three children and eventually retired in Sacramento. Her Portland family stayed very close and near to her heart and whenever the opportunity arose to travel home to attend a birthday, graduation, or wedding she was there. She also returned to celebrate a few special events of her own with her loved family members and friends.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patricia Wells and brothers Earl Bowles Jr. and Richard Jenkins.

Surviving Janis is her sister Lisa Bowles, daughter Tiffany Fortune Penn, sons Louis L. Mahone and Carlos E. Mahone, son-in-law Anthony Penn, granddaughter Aliyah Fortune, grandson Jeremy D. Fortune (wife Akilah), and three great-grandchildren Dakota Fortune, Artyss Fortune, and Chosen Fortune. She has numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and a host of relatives and friends.
