James Delmar Pfenning

James Delmar Pfenning passed away on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 at the age of 83 surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on April 26th, 1943 to Marjorie (née Schandel) and Delmar Pfenning in Glendale California. After high school and summers spent surfing, he enlisted in the Army in 1963 and spent his time as an operating room tech in Germany which is where he met his wife of 48 years, Karin. He was an automotive “Body Man” and then manager at Nu-Way Auto Body in Portland, Oregon for 35 years. In retirement he spent his time working on hot rods, sewing his own upholstery, making jewelry, wood working, welding, stained glass, hanging out with his friends, and helping anyone who needed it.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Karin (née Wollmer) Pfenning, his brother Robert Pfenning, and his mother and father, Margie and Del.

He is survived by his son Cliff Pfenning, daughter Kristina Pfenning, daughter-in-law Teri, grandchildren Sydney, and Reese, son-in-law Soren Hill (and pup Johan), his brother Ron Pfenning, as well as many beloved cousins in California from the Grimonts, Kaufmans, and Schandels.
