James Broderick, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 43. He was the youngest of six Broderick children and brought a unique spirit, warmth, and joy to the lives of those who knew him.
James was known for his kindness, wisdom, quick smile, and contagious laugh. He had an incredible memory and a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed and valued. Wherever James went, he made friends easily and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to cross his path.
A lifelong skateboarder, James found freedom, creativity, and community through skating from his childhood years through adulthood. His passion grew into a talent and career as a skateboard park designer and builder, where he helped create spaces that brought people together to enjoy the sport he loved.
James was also a gifted artist, known for sketching quirky, cool drawings that he loved sharing with family and friends. His art was a window into his playful imagination, and his sketches became treasured keepsakes for the people lucky enough to receive one.
James had an adventurous soul and a love for travel. He enjoyed spending time between Portland, Oregon, San Diego, California, and Mexico, embracing new experiences, meeting new people, and building friendships wherever his journey took him.
James is survived by his mother, Rosemary (Broderick) Withrow, and her husband Chase Withrow, his sister, Christine Broderick; and his brothers, Michael Broderick and Tim Broderick, his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and his beloved nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Broderick, his brother, Robert Broderick Jr. and his sister Anne Marie.
A funeral service will be held at 10am July 21st at Saint Catharine's Church in Spring Lake, New Jersey, 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762, followed by burial at St. Catharine's Cemetery in SeaGirt, 1100 W Chicago Blvd, Sea Girt, NJ 08750
James will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way.
