Howard (Dave) Lomax, age 84, died Thursday morning, March 16 2017, at Adventist hospital in Portland. Born August 2, 1932 in Portland to Leroy and Marion Lomax, he grew up in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood and graduated from Washington High School in 1951. He then took classes at Portland State University for two years before enlisting in the US Army for a two-year stint. He hired on with Western Airlines in January 1957 at the old Portland Airport working ramp, reservations and customer service. After several years he transferred into sales in downtown Portland calling on travel agencies and other companies. He continued in sales with Delta Airlines after the merger of the two airlines and retired in 1994.
His great love, after family, was spending time on Mt. Hood at his property at Zigzag and the Meadows where he skied and helped in the host program.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie, children Daniel of Edmonds, Washington, Steven (Devyn) of Portland and Matthew (Michelle) of Gresham; grandchildren, Brittney, Karsten, Kyra, Katelyn and Parker; brother Leroy Lomax of Portland and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held later at time and place yet to be decided. Any memorial contributions should be made to a favorite charity.
