Hisayoshi Muramatsu

1952 — 2026

Hisayoshi Muramatsu, age 73, of Milwaukie, Oregon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 16, 2026.

He was born in Arari, Japan, to Tsugi and Shigeru Muramatsu on September 23rd 1952. He spent his first three decades in Japan before making regular visits to his extended family in the states and eventually moving and starting a family in Oregon.

Hisayoshi was a skilled trade worker building homes with his brother in his early years and remodeling homes for his family and friends in his later years. He enjoyed building things with his hands and took great pleasure in maintaining his saltwater fish tank. He also worked as an airbrush distributor, a role that reflected both his technical skill and attention to detail.

Outside of work, Hisayoshi lived life with curiosity. He enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing, clamming, crabbing, mushrooming, hunting, and snow skiing. A certified ocean scuba diver, he also enjoyed snorkeling and spending time in and around the water on family trips to Hawaii. After receiving a diagnosis of Kidney disease, his final years were spent catching up on anime and watching game shows while still enjoying the ocean on yearly Hawaii trips and closer to home at Depoe Bay.

Hisayoshi was preceded in death by his parents, Tsugi and Shigeru Muramatsu. He is survived by his spouse of over 38 years, Sue Muramatsu; daughter, Kaitlin (Preston), and family members Katsuhiro (Miyeko) Mizuguchi, Shigefumi (Minori), and Tazuko (Tsutomu) Nagashina, along with extended family and loved ones who will miss him dearly.

If you would like to do something in his memory, donations may be made in Hisayoshi’s name to The Cat Adoption Team, a place we had hoped to adopt a cat for him and to honor his love of animals.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
