Geraldine Othello Hayes

January 15, 1922 — January 8, 2020

Geraldine Othello Mosley Hayes was born on January 15, 1922 to Horse Mosley and Betty Jean Hollaway, in Luther Oklahoma.

She went to school in Marietta Oklahoma, then she moved to Steel Water Oklahoma where she finished High School. In 1944, she moved to Portland Oregon where she worked in the shipyard until the Vanport flood happened in 1947.  In 1959, she fell in love and married her husband Diamond Hayes where they raised their son Raymond Talley. They spent many years fishing and gardening.

Geraldine worked at OHSU (formally Multnomah County Hospital) where she did housekeeping, then   transferred to Emanuel Hospital where she retired from.  Geraldine loved spending time with her family and fishing was a big part of it.

Aunt Geraldine proceeded in death by her son Raymond Eugene Talley (1992), her husband Diamond Hayes (1983), her siblings, Charles, Osie, Luddie, Herman, Mary Joe, Raymond, Felton, Eula and Virgle.

Geraldine will be missed and forever loved, she leaves to mourn, Nieces Margie Simon, Ruth Nicholson and Great Nephew Jeffrey L. Simon Sr (Leah Priest). 2 grandchildren Lisa Moore and Senobia Talley and a host of nieces and nephews from Nevada, California, Mississippi, Atlanta, Maryland, Texas, Seattle and Portland.

Through her words and actions, Aunt Geraldine taught us how to love, laugh, cook, clean, organize and speak our truth. Aunt Geraldine never minced words and always told the truth and loved each and every one of you dearly.
