George Steve Zadan, a man whose warmth and kindness resonated within the hearts of all who knew him, departed this world on January 7, 2026, in Oregon City, Oregon. Born on June 13, 1954, in Portland, Oregon, George was a true son of the Pacific Northwest, his roots deeply entwined with the vibrant community he cherished throughout his life.
A dedicated salesman, George embraced his career with unwavering passion. He began this journey in the women's shoes department at Nordstrom while still navigating the halls of academia at the University of Oregon, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. His professional path later led him to B&B Auto Supplies, where he devoted decades of hard work before transitioning to Tyree Oil. A fixture in his work community, George was well-known and well-liked, a man who had a knack for connecting with people—he was indeed a guy who knew a guy for everything.
George was an enthusiastic coach, dedicating much of his time to nurturing the athletic talents of his children. He coached basketball for his three beloved kids and took to the baseball field with his son, Anthony, instilling in them not only the skills of the games but also invaluable lessons of teamwork and perseverance. Time with his children and grandchildren was his pride and joy; he had an innate ability to teach, patiently guiding them through whatever new adventure they sought to embark upon.
In his personal life, George emanated warmth reminiscent of a sunny, summer day. Those who were fortunate enough to know him shared an unspoken bond, one forged through laughter and stories that will linger long after his departure. He was a do-it-yourself man at heart with a wide array of interests, embracing hobbies like fishing, golfing, and tailgating with zest. His love for cars and his enthusiasm for the treasures found on shopping trips to Costco were part of the fabric of his everyday life. He always loved a cocktail and conversation.
George was not merely a father or a coach; he was a loving grandfather whose delight shone through as he spent countless moments with his grandsons, Connor, Richie, and Lincoln. These relationships were among his proudest accomplishments, weaving an intricate tapestry of memories filled with joy, love, and playful adventures.
He is survived by his children, Abbi Zadan, Anthony Zadan (and Alyssa Zadan), and Ashley Johnson (and Richard Johnson), as well as his cherished grandchildren. His sister, Anna Zadan, remains a loving connection to a legacy that is rich with memories and fondness.
George's departure leaves a palpable void, as he was preceded in death by his parents, Stephan and Olga, and his sisters, Zena Zadan. He also shared meaningful friendships with Jim Parshall and Jeff Allworth, who knew him not just as a friend but as a beacon of positivity and support.
The echo of George's laughter, his unwavering patience, and his profound love for his family will resonate for years to come. While he may have passed suddenly, the memories he cultivated and the love he shared will remain, cradling the hearts of his loved ones, a testament to a life lived with purpose and heart.
