September 28, 1944 - September 5, 2025
Douglas Harold Rude, 80, went to the Lord on September 5, 2025. He was the only child of Harold and Jean Rude. Doug attended Jefferson High School and went on to get a pharmacy degree from Oregon State University (GO BEAVS!). He later received an MBA from Portland State University.
Doug entered the U.S. Public Health Service and his first duty post was Fort Hall, Idaho as a First Lieutenant. Following his military service went on to become a clinical pharmacist in Portland. Later in his career Doug worked for several pharmaceutical companies, including Ely Lilly. His profession took him to many locations including Kansas, Washington, California, Indiana and Tennessee. He retired as a clinical pharmacist with Optum in Bend in 2024.
Doug married his wife, Jane in 1984. He has two daughters (Meredith Johnson and Kathryn Wheat) by a prior marriage and one daughter (Jessica Rude) by his wife Jane. He also has nine grandchildren.
A devout Episcopalian, Doug worshipped at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bend and was also a licensed lay eucharistic minister.
Doug was a long time member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, serving on its Board of Trustees from 1983 until 1985. An avid golfer, he also became a member of Bend Country Club and was a regular participant in the men’s club. If there is a golf course in heaven, and there must be, Doug will always be even par or better.
Although not a cowboy, he could clean a stall with the best of them as he and his equestrian wife lived on a 10 acre ranch near Sisters, Oregon where she keeps her five horses.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
