June 26, 1936 — August 6, 2021

David Lee Goodson, born June 26, 1936, passed peacefully on August 6, 2021, at Ana Dobra's Care Home, in Portland, Oregon.  He was 85.
He was one of five siblings, spending his youth, first, in Victorville, California, and later, in Northern Illinois.  He graduated from Crystal Lake, Illinois High School in 1954.
While attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, he began working for Garrett's Popcorn Shop, and he eventually worked his way up to General Mnager, helping to build their business, from one shop to six.  It was David who invented the "Chicago Style Popcorn!"
He was very active in The LaSalle Street Church there, working tirelessly with the city's youth.
Retiring at 70, he settled in Eureka, California, where he pursued his passion for Photography, particularly the Victorian Houses there, and the Bird Life at the Arcata Wetlands.
David served in The U.S. Army in Korea, right after the war, in Communications.
He was an avid punster, as all his friends and family can confirm.  He was joking right up until the end.
He was preceded in death by his sister Laura Goodson and his brother Phil Goodson.  He is survived by his brother Jim Goodson and his sister Suzanne McKay.  He leaves twelve nieces and nephews and eighteen grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery, Sunnyside, Oregon (Rose City Funeral Home officiating), on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 11:30 a.m.   His "Celebration of Life," will follow, at 1:00 p.m., at 5285 N.E. 47th Avenue, Portland, OR  97218.
