Charles Lindberg Kelly was born December 19, 1931 in Linden, Texas, to Charlie and Christeen Kelly. He was the first born of eight children. His family moved to Oregon in 1945, where he attended Roosevelt High School.
In later years, he then moved to Alaska where he worked in a boat as a cook and a part-time singer. He then returned to Oregon in the late 70's. Charles was a part of the Portlandaires (which was a well-known gospel quartet) and later retired from the City of Portland.
His hobbies included fishing, BBQing, Dominoes, singing and story-telling. Charles married both Doris Smith, and Adell; both marriages ended in divorce. In 1985, he then met and married his soul mate, Nadine Freeman; he then became father to her children.
He preceeds his father, mother, sister Carolyn and brothers Henery and James Kelly.
Charles leaves behind his wife Nadine Kelly; children Doris Walker, Laverne Blickenstaff, Otha Willingham Jr, EJ Willingham, and Debora Willingham; his siblings Morris Kelly, Johnny Kelly, Cemmie Jackson, and Mae Henry; sister-in-law Pauline Kelly; daughter-in-law Sophie Willingham; son-in-law Thomas Walker; brother-in-law George Fletcher; 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren, 36 nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Charles was a kind-hearted person, willing to help others all the time. He will be greatly missed.
