Carol "Carie" Cook passed away quietly on a wintery Wednesday morning at the age of 67. Carie was a gentle soul and proud Portlander who appreciated the diversity and uniqueness of her River City. She believed in Jesus, justice, conservation and kindness to all living things.
Carie found beauty in the abstract as reflected in her photography and art, utilizing shadow, pattern and texture to tell a story, capture a moment or reveal the ironic. She loved to make and send whimsical cards to cheer and comfort friends and family. She was an advocate for Public Broadcasting, Habitat for Humanity and Mosquito Netting for tropical areas to prevent the spread of malaria.
Carie loved music. She was a closet musician who played guitar and was an avid concert goer. She met several of her favorite artists: Janice Ian, Neil Finn, Paul Kelly, Liam Finn and Mark Hart to name a few.
Most important, Carie was a loving and loyal Sister, Auntie and Friend. She will forever be in our hearts.
