B. Milele Hobbs

December 3, 1948 — January 15, 2017

B. Milele Hobbs came into this world on December 3, 1948 in Chicago, IL born to Andrew and Marjorie (Gardner) Marshall Sr.  The oldest of eight children, six brothers and one sister raised in Paducah, Kentucky.  Milele lost her battled with cancer and peacefully returned home to her heavenly father on January 15, 2017.

Milele graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School. She attended Lane College where she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.  She later obtained her Bachelors of Science degree from California State University, Fresno.

As the oldest, Milele began raising and caring for others at the early age of 5. She instantly knew her god-giving purpose was to be a "Caretaker". Throughout her youth and adult life, she followed her passion of serving others, especially the hard to serve - the ones no one else wanted, through ministry. She was a counselor, mentor, missionary, pastor and much more to so many. She worked for LDA (Learning Disabilities Association), Steps to Success-Mt. Hood Community College and NAMI Multnomah (National Alliance of Mental Illness) before retiring.

As part of her of ministry, Milele founded Gomer’s House, a transitional home for people needing a safe, sober living environment. She was also the Co-Pastor of Trees of Righteous Christian Church. Milele served on several community boards and volunteered with Disciples of Christ, Portland Alumni Church, Kukatonon Children’s African Dance and the Portland Homeless Family Solutions Shelter. She had the heart of a true servant of God.

"My purpose/destiny is to share the love of Christ message with everyone I meet. ALL GOD'S PEOPLE COUNT and for too long we have counted people out because of their history, mental capacity, race, etc.  We are one big family sharing God’s gift – this earth. I love my man, my kids/grands, my sheep (church members) and this life.” ~ Milele

She leaves to mourn, her husband James B Hobbs Sr; her daughters, Denise Ingram-Barnes (Gerald), Sonya Sutton; daughter-in-law, Dana Shepherd (David); her surviving siblings, Denise Osei (Frances), Dennis Marshall, George Skinner (Lisa), Kenneth Marshall; sisters-in-law, Liddie Marshall (Andrew Jr), Gwen Hobbs; her grandchildren LaRonn Ingram, Devin Sutton, ShaMyua Ingram, Derriel Ingram, P. Bre'Shay Barnes, Renee' Ingram, Njeri Ford, Gerray Barnes, Jalam Sutton and Kai Ingram. Proceeding her in death are her parents; her son Robert Ingram; siblings, Andrew Jr., Gower "Guy", Walter "Van". She will be especially missed by her 4 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, those who she adopted as "her child/ren", and friends.

While she is apart from us physically – her spirit and destiny lives on in each one of us.
