Beulah Mae Campbell, age 80, of Portland Oregon, passed away on
Wednesday, May 31st, 2023. She was born to the late Wrothel Funchess
and Naomi Daniels on November 27, 1942, as one of 7 siblings.
Beulah was born and raised in Silver Creek Mississippi, graduating from
Monticello High School, and in the early 1960s, relocated to Portland
Oregon by way of Chicago, Illinois to join her siblings who had settled
here. Shortly after arriving, she became a seamstress for Jantzen Knitting
Mills and shared her love of sewing she learned from her grandmother, with
her children and grandchildren.
Beulah then met her husband Richard through her younger sister Jewelia,
who was married to Richard's younger brother Travis. Beulah and Richard
fell in love, married in 1964 and went on to be married for 41 years.
Over the years she enjoyed spending time with family and friends,
gardening, reading, poetry, and researching family history.
Beulah is predeceased by her husband, Richard; her parents, Wrothel &
Naomi; her sister Ruth Harrington; and her brother, Joseph. She leaves
behind four children; Vivian (Greg Sr.) Taylor, Richard
Jr, Valerie (Brian) Connerly, and Derrick J.(Louisa) Campbell, Annette
Campbell (step daughter); five grandchildren, Kahlynda Jackson (Joel), Gregory Taylor Jr.
(Selena), Karlita Taylor, Derek D. Campbell, Sophia Campbell, and five
great-grandchildren.Alexis Taylor, Amarrah Taylor-Turay, Faith Taylor-
Bailey, Gregory Taylor III, and Gianna Taylor
She also leaves behind her sisters Janette Andrews, Naomi Wrighten, and
Jewelia Funchess, and brother Charles Funches Sr. and a number of
nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Beulah requested for an intimate memorial not far from her home. The
family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days.
For those who have known Beulah in her fruitful journey with us, her
memorial service will be held at Rose City Funeral Home 5625 NE Fremont
St, Portland, OR 97213.
