Betty Jean Kinoshita, 71 years old, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.
Betty was born to Tio and Lillie Kiyokawa in Portland, Oregon and was the youngest of four children. While Betty did not attend university, she proudly climbed her way up the corporate ladder where she embodied the hard work her parents instilled into her. Beginning her career as a secretary, and retiring as a Senior Vice President at US Bank was one of her greatest accomplishments.
As a young woman, Betty was vibrant and social and cultivated many lifelong friendships. She was a naturally gifted artist who expressed herself through pointillism, creating a variety of deeply detailed pieces. She also had a deep passion for music and attended many concerts and events. Not only artistically driven, Betty was naturally gifted in athletics excelling on the golf course as well as the bowling alley.
It was at the bowling alley where she met Ken Kinoshita and the two married in 1986 and soon after moved to their home in Gresham, Oregon. There, they spent 40 years together raising their daughter Kim and cultivating a life together.
Betty dedicated much of her life to raising her daughter and was devoted to fostering a close, loving relationship. Betty and Kim loved spending time together and loved cooking, baking, traveling, and trying new restaurants. Together they had many adventures and created endless life-long memories.
Betty’s generosity was known to many, as she was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Betty had a deep love for her family and friends and expressed her care through her cooking and putting together care packages and snack bags to many throughout the years. She was devoted to those close to her and is remembered for her joyful, loving, and generous spirit.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Tio Kiyokawa; her mother, Lillie Kiyokawa; her brother, Stanley Kiyokawa; her sister-in-law Joyce Kiyokawa; her sister-in-law, Sue Kiyokawa; and her beloved niece, Emily Glos. She is survived by her husband Ken Kinoshita; her daughter Kimberly Albrecht (Erik); her siblings, Shirley Glos (Rodger) and Perry Kiyokawa.
A private gathering of her family and friends will be held in the near future with invitations to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Providence Portland Medical Foundation in support of colon cancer research.
