Obituary

Benyam Andebrhan, 66, passed away surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a

legacy of warmth, laughter, and strength. Born on January 1, 1960, in Asmara, Eritrea,

to Elleta T-Berhane and Pastor Andebrhan Manna. He was the fourth of seven siblings

and cherished his role within a large and close-knit family. As a young adult, Benyam’s

journey took him from Eritrea to Beirut and later to Walla Walla, Washington, before he

finally settled in beautiful Portland, Oregon. There, he built a life filled with love and

laughter alongside his beloved wife, Saba Yohanes.

Benyam was a kindhearted and loving husband, a protective and caring brother, and a

proud uncle to his many nephews and nieces. He was known for his gentle spirit, his

humor, and his unwavering commitment to family. Benyam’s smile! His smile was the

most special gift to those he shared it with; his laughter could fill a room and instantly

brought the most genuine joy to those nearby. Being with Benyam was to be in the

presence of comfort; the deep care he had for those he loved will be deeply missed by

all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he is no longer with us, Benyam’s

memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the many jokes we all told with

him, and the spirit of joy his soul carried. Benyam, our dearest, your spirit will never

leave us.
