Anne Houser

On the beautiful fall morning of September 5, 2026, Anne passed away peacefully at the Cottages Memory Care in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 82. Anne was born May 6th, 1944 in Chicago, IL to the late Angela (nee LaRusso) and Charles Santangelo. Anne was the wife of her beloved husband, Ronald Houser, for 39 years and is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Chikako Houser; daughter Amanda and her wife Sharon Shwetzer; grandson Cooper Shwetzer; and brother Charles Santangelo, in addition to so many loving friends and caregivers.

Anne moved to Portland, Oregon, in August 2015, after spending many years with her family in Plymouth, Minnesota, and 10 years of fun-filled retirement in Leesburg, Florida. Anne was passionate about music and singing, and loved to dance. She was an active member of the church, as well as the church and community choirs. If she wasn’t getting into one of her many hobbies or playing tennis and golf, she was probably doing research at the library. Anne was a gifted cook and made all the holidays memorable with some of the most amazing meals. Anne had an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile, and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Interment will be closed ceremony for the family on September 15 at Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont St, Portland, OR 97213. Flowers are welcome, however a donation to Walk to End Alzheimer's in Anne’s name (http://act.alz.org/goto/anne-houser) would be very appreciated.

The celebration of life service for Anne will be held at 5 pm on Friday, September 25, 2026 at the sanctuary of the Tabor Space Community Center, located at 5441 SE Belmont St, Portland, OR 97215
