Connie Vafides

Kondelia (Connie) Vafides, age 92 of St. Helens, Oregon, formerly of Portland, Oregon passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 peacefully in her sleep at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital, in Portland, Oregon.

A loving mother and homemaker, Connie was a remarkable baker and cook.  She enjoyed trying new recipes for her friends and family.  Throughout the years, she collected cookbooks and new recipes, as early as the 1950's.  She was a lover of animals, especially cats and always had animals in her life and animal pictures in her home.  Her most enjoyment came from attending concerts.  She loved live music, especially rock, or something with a good beat you could dance to.

Connie was predeceased by her parents, Gus and Helen Gounoulis and her loving husband of 44 years, Dino Vafides. Connie is survived by her daughters, Kathy Vafides, Chris Coppernoll and her son in law, Jim Coppernoll. She is also survived by her grandson, Matt Coppernoll and his wife Ellie, and their two children (her great grandchildren) Cora and Rowan.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be on Monday, February 26, 2024, 11am at Rose City Funeral Home Chapel.
