Bob was the beloved baby of the Garibbo family, born in 1960 in the Mt. Tabor area a half mile from where Dad was born. He was a happy child and had a dog, cat, rabbit, chipmunks, finches and an aquarium. He had grade school bongo parties in the basement and went to Benson Tech High School. He majored in electrical engineering, welding, drafting and foundry. He played classical guitar and created metal sculptures, which he sold. He was a camp counselor baseball couch, and was a catcher in Little League. He was also an altar boy. He received awards and had a scholarship to U of O.
During his freshman year his mental illness shocked him to the core. After several years of turbulence, he settled into HUD housing with very supportive neighbors. He worked at Montgomery Ward Warehouse until they went out of business. Bob loved and looked forward to every Holiday and Birthday with the family and would cook his family-favorite food and bring gifts for everyone. He changed over the years and came out of his shell with his neighbors. He was well-respected and liked and now is greatly missed.
