Pamela Ann Roberts

Pamela Ann Roberts was born on February 24, 1955, in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. She passed away on February 27, 2024 after a long battle with COPD. Pamela was 69 years of age.

Pamela is survived by her two daughters Dawn and Rachel, and her grandchildren, Anthony (28), Dy’lan (20), Aniyah (12), Jackson (8), Olivia (6), and her great grandchild, Za’Nova (16 months), as well as her older sister Cathy. Pamela was preceded in death by her father Carl Gilbert Roberts, as well as her mother Mary Christine (Walker) Roberts, her older brother Steven Roberts, and younger brother James Roberts. Pamela’s pride and joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.  She spent 29 years as a loving and dedicated grandmother.

Pamela was born and raised within a military family.  Her family spent many years traveling the world, spending time in places such as Panama and France.  Pamela always had fond memories of her travels, although she equally loved her southern roots.  She spent many years in a house on Dodge Drive in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  She attended Seventy-First Highschool, where she was a cheerleader and in the graduating class of 1973.

After Graduation, she completed Cosmetology school, but ended up going a different route.  Pamela married her first husband and became a mother in 1975, to Dawn.  In 1986, she remarried and moved out to Oregon, where she then had her second daughter, Rachel, in 1988.  It was in Oregon that she worked at Electra Credit Union, where she met many wonderful, lifelong friends.  Pam, or Pammy, as she was affectionately referred to, was a social, vibrant person.  She was the life of the party, always laughing and having a good time.  Much like her personality, her beautiful, bright red hair always caught people’s attention and was a conversation starter for many.

Pam devoted her time outside of work to her cats, her garden, and her children & grandchildren.  Afternoons at the park, bike rides with her daughter, or visiting with friends is often how Pam spent her weekends.  Her energetic personality, along with her love for coffee, kept her busy and on the go.  But being a grandmother was by far her favorite way to spend her time, often telling people that her grandchildren “keep her young”.

In 2004, Pamela left Electra Credit Union and made an exciting leap to the Port of Portland, meeting many new friends.  She was extremely proud of the work she did for the executives of the Port, and was loved by many there, even receiving an award for her outstanding customer service.  Retiring in 2015 after 11 years of service, Pam moved back to North Carolina where she spent time with her sister, Cathy, her brother-in-law, Richard, and their son, Rick.  She continued to visit her children and grandchildren in Portland, eventually moving back in 2022.

Even at the end she found a way to smile and laugh, especially when it came to her family.  Laughing at the precious moments of her children and grandchildren gave her the greatest joy and her infectious laugh will live on in our memories.  Her heart was the biggest of anyone, having such a genuine and unconditional love for her people.  She was fiercely independent and wildly stubborn up until the very end.  We love you and you will be missed dearly.
