Joseph Bradley Choate

August 20, 1926 — March 16, 2017

Joseph Bradley Choate was born August 20, 1926, to Rufus and Louemma Choate in Huntington Park, CA. He grew up in Huntington Park with his parents and his siblings, Betty, Raymond and Ruth.

Joe entered the Army Airforce in 1944 where he was trained as an airplane and engine mechanic in Mississippi.  He was later stationed in Anchorage, AK.  He received an Honorable Discharge on October 13, 1946.

On December 5, 1947, Joe married Ruth Irene Doddridge.  They had two children together, Diane and Naomi. They enjoyed their lives together until Irene succumbed to cancer in December, 1984.

Joe worked hard at National Seal in Southern California and Precision Cast Parts in Portland, OR. After retiring from Precision Cast Parts, Joe worked at Izzy’s and later at Fred Meyer.

Joe and his wife, Irene, loved our Savior and that led them to serve at Bell Friends Church and later at Lynwood Friends Church in Portland, OR.  Joe was active in the Boy Scouts of America, first as a scout and later as a leader.  He also enjoyed umpiring for Los Angeles County and church baseball leagues.

In 2009, Joe moved to Sparks, NV to live with Cliff and Naomi where he attended Sparks Christian Fellowship. He spent his final year at Cascades of the Sierras, where he received excellent care and felt well-loved by the staff.

Joe is survived by his sister, Ruth; two daughters, Diane and Naomi (Cliff); two grandchildren and their spouses, and two  great-grandchildren.

Joe will be remembered by all as a compassionate and generous man of God.
